20 weeks

G and I went to see a midwife this week and we've pretty much decided to try for the home birth route. This decision was based on many things - two reasons being that I greatly desire to experience a natural childbirth the way I believe my body was intended to handle and of which I wasn't able to do with the boys, and I really want to try everything in the realm of safety NOT to have another cesarean. I absolutely love the midwife we met with. I felt an instant bond with her, a genuine warmth and overall trust so that's a great sign so far!

Have any of you experienced a vbac homebirth or know someone who has?

  1. I think a home birth sounds amazing, though I wasn't quite brave enough to go for one. I did work with midwives at a nearby hospital and they were fantastic. I am sure you will have no problems with your vbac, and your home birth will be incredible. So exciting!

  2. Yes I do!!! I have a wonderful friend that had a C-section with her first child, then did a water home birth for her second (which went beautifully and with zero problems), and she is pregnant with her third and plans on doing the water birth again.
My first was a hospital birth (awful due to epidural, etc....), and my second was natural at a birthing center --that was wonderful...

I am excited for you Cortnie!!!

  3. I know a few women who have done VBACs successfully. I think the midwife route is key... less panic-induced interventions, or so I've heard! I had a homebirth with Oliver and it was a wonderful experience! Good luck! You can do it, mama!

P.s.- You are so gorgeous. Really.

  4. So glad you found a midwife that makes you feel comfortable! I have met some folks who've done HBAC. You'll be glad you did. I desperately wish I could have a homebirth for my next!
